Role & Responsibilities

The Business Development Manager works directly with the Partners and Design Directors to perform their duties and reports to the VP Finance and Operations.

Business Development:

GENERAL

  • Responsible for developing, managing and implementing all aspects of the requirements related to global business development
  • Responsible for all business development content and reporting that is required to successful respond to all RFP’s and business leads
  • Responsible for the maintenance and updating of new business tracking and reporting
  • Collaborates with the Marketing & Communications Manager as required
  • Collaborates with the Director of Production as required
  • Collaborates with Design Directors / Partners as required
  • Manage proposals for new business and facilitate the introduction of won projects to the Operations Team
  • Central point for collection and tracking of company wide business development including pipeline management and lead generation which includes follow-up with Directors and Partners regularly on their individual lead activity and presentation of monthly/quarterly results to Partners/VP
  • Manage the construction of RFP’s including gathering the required information from the Design Directors, Operations Team, and/or Partners as required, writing original content, compiling CV and portfolio pages, delivering timely RFP submissions to Clients and following up for feedback
  • Maintain and update all RFP templates and suggest and make improvements
  • Manage the smooth transition from project pitches and RFPs to won projects, drafting final contracts against approved proposals and delivering all pertinent information to the Operations Team and project lead including making client introductions
  • Create business development documents as needed
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining full calendar of conferences and events to support new business development.
  • Possible involvement in pitch and/ or client meetings
  • Maintain a current global client and potential client database

  • Knowledge of and passion for design and the business and process of design
  • Solid understanding of traditional and emerging business development channels
  • Ability to think creatively and innovatively
  • Budget-management skills and proficiency with Excel, InDesign and Word
  • Professional judgment and discretion that comes from years of experience in the field
  • Familiarity with the latest trends, technologies and methodologies in graphic design, web design, production, etc.
  • A hands-on team player with a proven track record of supporting and working with creative teams
  • A prior knowledge of the interior design process and development industry is preferable and strongly advised but not mandatory

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications or related field
  • 3-5 years in business development, marketing and promotion within Design/Architecture field
  • Ability to work unpredictable hours, including some evenings and weekends
  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills
  • Ability to understand strategy given from Partners and then drive it to successful outcomes
